Gamescience® Eight-Sided "Four-Most" Dice

All gamers know that regular 4-sided dice have very poor roll or tumble characteristics. To generate better random outcomes, a very special 8-sided shape has been created and numbered 1 through 4 twice! All 8 corners have been flattened to assure that the die rolls better and can easily be differentiated from regular 8-siders. Each of these dice are covered by the Gamescience® 2-year guarantee.

I Love it, But...
I really, really love this die. I received one as part of a pound a while back and it's quickly become my go-to d4. However, like the other reviewer, my four-most also has convex faces. But then this die is also as old as I am. Ultimately, this is a unique, awesome die with an unfortunate flaw that makes it less precise than other Gamescience dice. In fact, I was surprised this was made by Gamescience at all: it seems a touch sloppy. I would love to see the design updated and this die put back into production with the modern materials Gamescience has available. I have no doubt it would become a quick favorite at many tables.

Great Idea - Bad Execution
I love the idea of this die. A d8 with 1-4 twice. This should roll better than an actual d4. However this die is not a precision die. The molding process leaves several faces of this die convex (domed outward). These dice are made using a different process than normal game science dice. I don't recommend this die. If they made these dice like the normal Gamescience dice, I would give these 5 stars. Gamescience, please make these dice using your normal dice making process. Gamescience Response: "These are opaque dice and I would suspect that the 'domed outward' remark is because the die had an air bubble in it, they are produced using the same process as Gamescience dice, just were produced in the late 80s early 90s and today we can control even more parameters then before."
